The case for

A Pinguino is a genuinely well-built portable; the shell survives a UK summer's worth of cycling, the R290 refrigerant range measurably undercuts the supermarket alternatives on running cost, and the controls are competent in a category where competence is often optional. For a rental, a listed building or a household preparing a move within twelve months, this is the least-bad answer and it is a real endorsement inside the constraints of the category.

The case against

It is still a portable, which means a flexible hose in a UK sash window, condensate that has to go somewhere, and a noise floor that no fixed split ever pays.
