How we handle your data

As you use the site, we build a picture of your home from your postcode, the answers you give, and any EPC we look up on your behalf. Until you sign in, this profile lives only in this browser, in localStorage. It never leaves this device, we cannot see it, and clearing your browser storage wipes it.

This is why we describe it as being saved in this browser. It is not synced. It is not tied to an account. If you switch browsers, use another device, or clear site data, that profile is gone.

Signing in creates a small account record and a single saved home linked to it. We store the address details you have confirmed, the answers you have given, any EPC snapshot we fetched for you, and a log of improvements you have told us about. That is the whole set.

Your saved home is stored securely using our cloud service provider. Access is restricted to your account: our database access rules only ever let a signed-in user read or change their own home, and we test this with adversarial checks.

We do not use saved-home data to change our recommendations in favour of installers. The recommendations you see are the same ones anyone with the same home would see, whether they signed in or not.

You can delete your saved home at any time from your settings. Deleting your account removes your saved home and all associated data, then removes your account itself.

We support two ways to sign in: Google, and a one-time email link. We do not store passwords. If you sign in with Google, we receive a stable identifier and your email; nothing else. If you use email, we only see your email address.

• Sell or share your Home Profile with installers or advertisers.
• Use your saved home to weight recommendations for any commercial partner.
• Ask you to sign in to see our content, our tools or our Home Energy Review. Signing in is only there to protect the work you have put in.
• Store payment details. There is nothing to pay for.

We collect a small amount of aggregated, anonymous product signals so we can tell where the site is or is not helping. These do not include your address, your answers, or anything that could identify you or your home.
