Right for
Typical UK three-beds where an 8 kW unit sizes cleanly against a fabric-improved heat loss; households whose priority is a service network they can actually reach on a February morning.
Wrong for
Homes where the emitter set has not yet been sized to run at 45°C flow; no monobloc rescues an oversized-radiator retrofit that skipped the delivery rung of the ladder.

R32 is the honest trade-off, not a red flag.
The current Ecodan generation uses R32 rather than R290; GWP is higher than propane but well below the older R410A generation, and Mitsubishi's roadmap towards a natural-refrigerant successor is public. For a unit specified today the difference is a soft mark against, not a disqualifier.
